Terms of use
Effective 19 July 2026 · applies to brakepadfinder.com
brakepadfinder.com is a free, informational tool that matches brake pad compound characters to driving profiles. By using the site you accept these terms. The one paragraph that really matters is the safety one — please actually read section 2.
1. Who we are
The site is operated by drivenerve, the independent publisher behind the drivenerve family of automotive tools, established in the European Union. Contact — including for full operator details, provided on request — is hello@drivenerve.com.
2. Safety-critical: what this site is and is not
Brakes are a safety-critical system. Everything on this site — finder results, ratings, temperature figures, guides — is general editorial information, not professional advice, not a fitment guarantee, and not a substitute for the pad manufacturer's documentation or a qualified mechanic.
- Always verify fitment for your exact year, model, trim and caliper in the manufacturer's own catalog before buying anything.
- The manufacturer's instructions always prevail over anything written here, including bed-in procedures and temperature ranges.
- Track-only compounds are not for public roads. Where a pad is marked "track use only", using it on the road may be dangerous and illegal in your jurisdiction.
- Installation matters. If you are not confident servicing brakes, have the work done professionally.
3. What the ratings are
Our 0–10 character ratings and operating windows are an editorial synthesis of manufacturer specifications and long-term community consensus. They are opinions about character, honestly held and independently formed — not laboratory measurements. Products change; a manufacturer may reformulate a compound at any time. If you spot an error, email us and we will review it.
4. Editorial independence and future affiliate links
No manufacturer or retailer pays for placement, ranking or scores, and recommendations are generated by the same scoring logic for everyone. Retailer or catalog links currently earn us nothing. If any link becomes commission-earning in the future, it will be disclosed on the page where it appears and in the privacy policy, and commissions will never affect which pads are recommended.
5. Intellectual property and acceptable use
The site's design, text, data set and code are ours or licensed to us; brand and product names (EBC, Hawk, Ferodo, Akebono, PowerStop, Brembo, StopTech, Endless, Porterfield, Project Mu, Carbotech, G-LOC, Pagid, PFC, Bosch and others) are trademarks of their respective owners, used only to identify the products being reviewed. No affiliation with or endorsement by any manufacturer is claimed or implied. You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes, including printing your spec card. You may not scrape the site at abusive rates, misrepresent its content as your own, frame it deceptively, or attempt to disrupt or probe the hosting infrastructure.
6. No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for damage arising from reliance on the information here, from products you purchase from third parties, or from brake work you perform or commission. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion is prohibited, and the statutory consumer guarantees of jurisdictions such as Australia and New Zealand, which apply notwithstanding anything else in these terms.
8. Third-party sites
Links to manufacturer catalogs and other external sites lead to independent services with their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability or conduct.
9. Changes and severability
We may update these terms; the current version with its effective date always lives at this address. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in force.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union member state in which the operator is established, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you habitually reside, which remain unaffected. The courts of that member state have jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to sue or be sued at home.
