Privacy policy

The short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, has no forms, and your finder answers never leave your device. The only personal data we ever process is an email address you choose to give us by writing to us, plus the standard server logs every website host keeps.

1. Who is responsible

The controller for personal data processed through this site is drivenerve, the independent publisher behind the drivenerve family of automotive tools, established in the European Union ("we"). Contact — including for full operator details, which we provide on request — is hello@drivenerve.com.

2. What this site does not do

No cookies. Neither we nor the site's code set any cookie, first-party or third-party. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
No analytics or tracking. No visitor analytics, no pixels, no fingerprinting, no advertising identifiers, and no requests to third-party servers when you browse.
No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no profile of you anywhere on our side.
No selling or sharing of personal information in the sense of the California CPRA or any other law. We have never done this and have no plans to.

3. Data stored on your device only

The finder saves your five answers and your compare list in your browser's localStorage so the page can restore your results when you return. This data stays inside your browser, is never transmitted to us or anyone else, and you can erase it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Share links encode your answers in the link itself (the part after "#"); browsers do not send that fragment to any server, including ours. Only share a link if you are comfortable with the recipient seeing those answers.

4. Data we actually process

4.1 Email correspondence

If you write to hello@drivenerve.com — a question, a correction, anything — we process your address and message content to answer you (legitimate interest / steps at your request, Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Correspondence is kept no longer than 24 months, then deleted unless a legal obligation requires otherwise. Writing to us creates no subscription of any kind.

4.2 Hosting server logs

Our hosting provider, Hostinger International Ltd. (EU), automatically records standard web-server logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser user-agent) when any page loads. We use these only to keep the site secure and available (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are retained for the short period set by the host's log rotation and are not merged with any other data. Hostinger processes this data for us under its data processing terms.

5. Recipients and international transfers

Personal data lives on Hostinger infrastructure in the EU/EEA. We do not transfer your data outside the EU/EEA, and no third party receives it, except where the law obliges us to disclose it.

6. Features that are not active (and what happens if they launch)

To be explicit, because many sites are vague about this:

Analytics: none today. If we ever add measurement, it will be a cookieless, aggregate-only service, this policy will be updated first, and the "no cookies" promise above will stay true or the change will be clearly announced with any legally required consent flow.
Affiliate links: none today. If retailer links on this site become commission-earning in the future, they will be disclosed on the page where they appear and in the terms of use. Affiliate programs may set cookies on the retailer's own site after you click; that is governed by the retailer's policy.

7. External links

Pad reviews link to manufacturer catalogs (EBC, Hawk, Ferodo, Akebono and others) so you can verify fitment. Those sites are run by their owners under their own privacy policies; this policy stops at our domain.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us at hello@drivenerve.com what we hold about you (usually: nothing, unless you have written to us), and have it corrected, deleted, or exported. We answer within one month. Specifically:

EU/EEA & UK: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent (GDPR / UK GDPR). You may also complain to a supervisory authority — the data protection authority of the country where you live, or of the EU member state where we are established.
California: rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing (we do not sell or share); we do not discriminate for exercising them.
Canada (PIPEDA): access and correction; complaints to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Australia (Privacy Act/APPs) & New Zealand (Privacy Act 2020): access and correction; complaints to the OAIC / Office of the Privacy Commissioner NZ.

9. Children

This site is about brake pads and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16; there is nothing on the site for a child to submit.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS with a strict content-security policy and collects the minimum possible data. No system is perfectly secure, but the most effective protection here is structural: we simply do not hold data worth stealing.

11. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new effective date.
